MEMPHIS, Tenn. – (December 22, 2006) – Legacy Media Memphis LLC, a subsidiary of Legacy Media Holdings LLC of Atlanta, announces purchase of KWAM AM 990. The transaction is expected to close shortly after final approval from the FCC in early 2007. KWAM, a class B 10,000 kw AM station in Memphis, TN, is currently owned by Concord Media Group and is operated by Clear Channel. “We believe in the value and potential of KWAM,” asserts Chip Miller, President of Legacy Memphis. “The strong history of this station offers us a platform to build a similarly strong community following. This initial station purchase will serve as a great base upon which to build our mid-south area media business.” KWAM’s current programming includes several popular talk, news and special interest broadcasts including Bill Bennett’s Morning in America, Focus on the Family, Dr. Laura, National Geographic Today and Fox Radio Hourly News. Upon acquiring KWAM, Legacy Media Memphis LLC plans to maintain family values programming and will expand local programming and offer additional nationally-known broadcasts. “We will continue giving listeners the nationally recognized programming they enjoy,” says Miller, “but we also want to give them a station they can call their own by adding broadcasts of local sporting events, religious services and other community events.” Read the entire Press Release in our News section.
